Optimistic Oracle
An oracle system that accepts data as true by default, unless challenged within a specific dispute window.
Optimistic Oracles allow us to bring complex, subjective real-world data on-chain (e.g., "Did the shipment arrive damaged?"). The assumption of truth speeds up operations, while the "dispute bond" mechanism economically guarantees correctness.
